Professor Exposition is a challenging but rewarding role. You're stuck with the thankless task of explaining everything to the audience, but on the other hand you're usually encouraged to do it in an eccentric manner.

Here are two different approaches to the same role. In the first, Allan Lee's Professor Fitzpatrick (or Fitzgerald, as he's called in the credits) explains stuff to Dan Haggerty in this much loved scene from 1989's Elves. In the second, Joe Pilato is blessed with the opportunity to play an old man, Zupan, as he outlines the history of a satanic cult in Steve Barkett's Empire of the Dark (1990). If these clips seem familiar it might be because both movies have featured on Red Letter Media's Best of the Worst web series.
